Relinquish.

This is a word that God has been impressing upon my heart this week. Relinquish. Life is hard! And this week, I've been challenged in my faith and in my business. Challenged to relinquish control.

I started this business with the goal of being able to help support our family and pay off debt. Although we don't have kids yet, I wanted to be able to have kids whenever we were ready for them, and have a good deal of our current debt paid off by the birth of our first child. But life has happened. We had to purchase a new car that we were not planning on purchasing. And another car purchase is quite possibly right around the corner.

Learning to relinquish control is not easy for me. I am a type A person. I want to plan and be in control of what's going on. And unfortunately, life doesn't work that way. Finances don't work that way. Business, often times, doesn't work that way. This week I have been challenged. Challenged to relinquish negative and unhealthy thought patterns. Challenged to release control over our finances. Challenged to let go and let God.

I have a history of anxiety and depression. I have been to counseling. I know the tools to fight off these thoughts and feelings, and realign myself with Truth. And yet, there are times that I fall back into old patterns. Times that Truth loses out to lies that I tell myself or that the enemy tells me, or even that other people tell me. But this week, I will find peace and joy in knowing that I am a blood-bought daughter of the One True King. And I know that He will use this business and He will use my life in a way that will glorify Him beyond what I can imagine.

So today, I am grateful. I am thankful that God is weighing on my heart. And I will relinquish control. May God do whatever He sees fit with Beach Photography, and may I serve Him well through this business.
