Chaos. Mass chaos.

Ya'll. The last few weeks have been complete and utter chaos in my life. So many good things. But I feel like I am just finally getting my footing again. First, we dealt with some dog health issues (turns out our dog has a rare disease called Cushing's. Who knew? Now he's on meds. That high-maintenance dog. Lol). Then I left for Boston. Then Joe left for Colorado. Then I got home from Boston. Then Joe got home from Colorado. Then I left for Tennessee. Then I got home. Then I left for Bolivar, MO. What a whirlwind. Now, I breathe, I edit, and I get back to my normal routine.

But alas, you're here for this gorgeous senior session I'm about to showcase, so I digress. I met Maggy late last May. We have known each other for less than one year, and yet, somehow it feels like I've known her my whole life. You all have those people, I'm sure. The friendship just flourishes from the beginning. It feels natural and wonderful, and quickly becomes a staple in your life. Maggy is one of those for me. So when she reached out to me a few months ago to do her senior photos, I was ecstatic. She is graduating this month from Southwest Baptist University and moving to Texas. I was so honored she wanted me to capture this memory for her, and so excited to have this time with her before she moved away.

Maggy has always been honest with me about her experience with photography. She has never really felt comfortable in front of a camera, and has very few photos of herself that she likes. Going into this session knowing that, I took it as a personal challenge to blow her away with her senior session, both with the session experience and with the resulting photographs. I wanted her to love the photos. But more than that, I wanted her to love her time in front of the camera.

I arrived in Bolivar around 5:30 last Friday. We spent a few minutes chatting and then we headed out to a few locations Maggy had chosen for her photos. The first was a beautiful field. We started snapping some photos and I captured some incredible shots. As I began showing Maggy the back of the camera, her guard started coming down. She started laughing, loosening up, and enjoying herself. To see her come out of her shell a bit while still in front of the camera was incredible. It's what I aim for in every session. I know getting in front of the camera can be scary, intimidating, or just downright unenjoyable... but it doesn't have to be! It can be so incredible, and when people begin to enjoy themselves, the results are amazing. Check out some of my favorites from my session with Maggy:
