The moment was so sweet and so much like GBW. (That's what my husband and I liked to call him. It stood for Grandpa Bill Walter. It was a running joke, as we thought at times he looked and acted like Jeff Dunham's old man puppet, Walter.) He always put a smile on your face, and that Christmas was no different. Watching that video brings me so much joy, so many smiles, and reminds me of the precious time I had with my grandpa Bill. He had this hat, you see. This Christmas hat that played music and danced. He pushed the button, he danced, he smiled, and he wished Merry Christmas to all who received the video. His grin was priceless. And that was grandpa. Always going for the smile, the laugh. I wasn't always so close with my grandpa, but as I got older, I recognized the precious gift I had in him. I loved calling him on my way home from work to chat and catch up. But my grandpa was a busy bee. I never knew if he'd be able to answer or not. He traveled the world, he spent time volunteering, he served at his church. It seemed like the man never sat down. He was an incredible blessing to so many people. I love rewatching that Christmas video, because it makes me feel close to him again and gives me hope for when I'll get to see him again one day. And it helps me to remember that Christmas isn't about the gifts. It's about spending time with loved ones and celebrating the birth of Jesus.

This week is the final "installment" of my Christmas Mini series. These last two sessions were so fun. The first was a sweet couple, so in love and such fun to capture. They were, to risk reusing a word, precious. Spending a few minutes getting to know them was a blessing. The second was a 4-generation family of 10, and they were a hoot, and so sweet. The most incredible moment was when grandma, as everyone referred to her, took a few photos with her great-grandson. She barely even noticed the camera as I snapped away, and spent the whole time kissing his sweet little head.

I feel so blessed and lucky to be able to do what I do. I get these glimpses inside little moments of people's lives, and get to freeze them forever, as a keepsake and memory, and bless these families with them. It's incredible. All the warm fuzzies.
