I've known Ethan for a little over five years...
and for the better part of those years, Ethan has been in my youth ministry. The years have been amazing and frustrating and beautiful and hard. Watching Ethan grow from the little seventh grade kid I met in 2018 into the young man he is now has been nothing short of incredible. So I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him in capturing these photos.
When Ethan’s mom, Sarah, reached out to me about senior photos, she said she wanted to go somewhere that meant something to Ethan. We wound up at the train tracks where Ethan likes to hang out with his friends. Our session largely consisted of Sarah and I trying to keep Ethan on track (you see what I did there?) and reining in his wild personality (if you know Ethan- you know this is pretty much impossible). There is never a dull moment when he’s around. But through all the chaos and laughter and absurdity, I was able to capture a beautiful blend of typical senior photos that Ethan and his parents can cherish, and photos that completely encompass his personality. They may end up cherishing those ones even more. Chaotic as it may have been, it felt like the perfect celebration of who Ethan is and who he is becoming; a beautiful tribute to the man God has created him to be. Ethan is not afraid to go for the laugh. In a world where we tend to take life a little too seriously, that might be just what we need.
