Rugby, F•R•I•E•N•D•S, and photoshoots, oh my!

When I first meet a client, I always start by asking them to tell me about themselves. I want to understand the person behind the smile—the personality I’m hoping to capture and the little nuances that make them, well, them.

One of the first things I learned about Abby was that she plays rugby. I’ll be honest… I know literally nothing about rugby. As Abby and her mom began explaining the sport, they mentioned a word that sparked a very specific memory: scrum. Suddenly, all I could see was Ross Geller throwing himself into a sport he knew absolutely nothing about—just to impress a girl. I said as much, and instantly, Abby and I bonded over our mutual love (okay, obsession, in my case) for the show Friends.

As we kept talking, I got to see even more of who Abby is—sweet, grounded, authentic, and beautifully confident. Truly my dream client. I couldn’t wait for her senior session.

On the day of the shoot, the weather had other plans. We had spitting rain and chilly wind, but Abby? She was a total rockstar. We still captured stunning photos that felt so in line with her Pinterest board, despite the less-than-ideal conditions. And the best part? She trusted me completely throughout the entire process—even when we called an audible and headed to a park neither of us had ever used before. It was so worth it, because these photos—just like Abby—turned out beautifully.

It was an honor to capture this season of her life, and I’m beyond excited to share a few of my favorites with you. 🤍
