Pregnancy is wild.

My hormones are all over the place. My body is constantly changing. Zoe moves all the time and it feels like there's an alien in there. I still can't hardly eat anything normal. My work schedule is the same as it's always been. And in the midst of it all, we are hustling and bustling to prepare our house for Zoe's arrival. If you know me, you probably know that I love decor and interior design. I love working with my hands and making things beautiful. So when we began making decisions about the nursery, I was so excited to see it all come together.

One of the things I was most excited about was the dresser that I was planning on redoing. I shared in my blog a few weeks ago about the beginning stages of our nursery preparations, and two of the pieces of furniture I had redone at that point. Since then, I've finished the rocking chair, tackled my grandparent's dresser, and embarked on some other projects. But the dresser was the most significant project in many ways, because of the familial history with it. It first belonged to my grandparents, which is amazing enough in itself. My grandpa was such an incredible man, such a powerful influence in my life, and such an important relationship to me. Joe only had a few years with him, but he would say the same. Grandpa was special. There was no doubt. Having a little piece of him in Zoe's room means the world to us. But even more incredible is the fact that my grandparents passed the dresser down to my parents when they were expecting their first child. And now, Joe and I have it in our nursery with our first on the way. The back of the dresser features all of our names and dates. To me, it's such a cool little piece of ancestry and history. And one day, I hope we are able to pass this dresser on to our own child so the tradition can continue.

The final piece of the nursery was the closet. We could have left it the way it was, or purchased some sort of organizer for the closet. But instead, I wanted it to be built specifically for what we were needing. For less than $100, I was able to tear out the existing shelving, strip the wallpaper, mud, paint, and install custom shelving that will be perfect for Zoe's little clothes. I am incredibly proud of and excited about how well it turned out! Our nursery is done (except for the wall decor, which we still need to hang). We've got some other projects to finish in the next couple of months, but to know that Zoe's room is ready and waiting for her arrival is such a weight off of our shoulders. Check it out below!
