So you want some photos. Now what?

I wanted to walk you through step-by-step what it looks like to book a photo session with me so that you know what to expect! Every photographer is different, so what I do may not be what other photographers do, so keep that in mind!

  1. A potential client contacts me to let me know they are interested in a photo session.
  2. I respond to the potential client with an email thanking them for reaching out, sharing session pricing options (also found on my investment page), and requesting them to fill out the attached "New Client Questionnaire" (including questions like who all will participate, what date they are looking to shoot, and desired location(s), among other pertinent information).
  3. Upon receiving the completed questionnaire, I hammer out any other necessary details with the potential client.
  4. I then send over a proposal with a contract for the potential client to sign and a 50% retainer payment is due.
  5. Once the contract is signed and the retainer is paid, I send over a style guide (which is essentially a document to help clients determine what to wear to look their best, what props to use (if any), and to help them have a greater understanding of what the session experience will be like and what to expect as far as a timeline for edited photos, blogs, social media posts, etc.).
  6. One week before the session, the remainder 50% of the session cost is due.
  7. At the session, we spend the agreed upon amount of time taking photographs. If more than one person is present for the session, I do "breakouts" so that the client can have photos of the group/family as a whole as well as some individual shots and smaller group shots (e.g. family photos, daughter breakout, and mom/daughter breakout).
  8. Within a week after the session, I post a sneak peek on social media.
  9. Within 2-3 weeks after the session, I post a blog.
  10. Within a month after the session, the client receives a digital, Pinterest-style gallery of their photos that they can download, share, and print as they wish! I also offer photo products available for purchase through my digital gallery.
  11. I send a follow-up client survey to the client to gain a better understanding of their experience with me and to ask for a quote that I can post online as a testimonial for new potential clients.
